In 2007 after an experience in Italy for 10 years of work in viticulture in the areas of Tuscany and Friuli Venezia Giulia regions Artan Balaj, the viticulture and winemaker of the winery come back to start building his own reality in his hometown Vlora. He started with planting many grape varieties in his different terrains, in Vlora area. He planted international and Albanian grape varieties so he could understand during the first three years which grape varieties he would choose for his terrains. In 2010 he planted his first vineyard named Balian 5000 meter square. Balian is located in Risili village, located 10 Km from Vlora and 10 km from Narta lagoon. Surrounded by a lot of little hills, fields, and mountains. This village has a special terroir for viticulture and microclimate. On the right side of the village 2 km aerial distance you can find the Shushica River and on the left side 6 km aerial distance it’s the Adriatic Sea.
